Our New Niece

Last Tuesday Ryan's sister Rachelle had her second baby. They had a girl, Maggie Elisabeth. Our kids are very excited and were happy to meet her that evening. Congratulations Joe and Rachelle and big brother Ian!

I was holding Maggie and Cameron came up and rubbed her head. I said, "Cameron has always liked babies." He said, "That's because I like pretty."

Apple Crisp

It seems like a long time since I've done any kind of fun cooking or project with the kids, but life has calmed down (I don't know what we've been so busy with) so we got a chance to make apple crisp. I let the kids use table knives to cut the apples into bite size chunks. I didn't know if it would work, but it did and they had a lot of fun. I was surprised by how long they stayed with the task. They were happy to surprise Ryan with a dessert treat and were proud to tell him how they helped. Sorry, there's no picture of the finished product, we ate it all up!

Happy Easter

This year Easter was low key, due in part to Lauren being sick on Saturday, so we missed the celebration with my family. On Sunday after church we went out to eat and then in the evening we went to Ryan's parent's house. The kids looked so cute in their new clothes. Lauren wasn't into taking pictures and threw a fit, but we did get a few good ones anyway.

You can't take a picture in our house without taking at least one with silly faces!

Flying Kites

Cameron got a kite for his birthday, so we've been waiting since February to fly it. Last week the kids noticed that it was a windy day and asked if we could fly kites after supper. It was a great evening to fly kites. We got Cameron's up right away, and after untwisting the string on our family kite, we got it up too. It was fun to see the kids enjoying it, and lots of people stopped to watch.
