Secrets and inventions

These two things are not related, but here they are together anyway.

Friday night Ryan was relaxing on the couch and Lauren kept climbing on his back and whispering secrets into his ear.  I don't think he could understand her, but he enjoyed it none the less.

Cameron loves the outdoors and has been playing outside every day, even with the horrible weather that we've been having.  He's in his own world, especially if there is dirt and sticks.  Yesterday he wanted to pull the wagon with his bike.  I helped him tie the jumprope onto his bike and then he pulled Lauren to our neighbors and back.  He is so creative and loves to think of new reasons to tie things up!

No picture of this, but Aubrey wanted to try something new yesterday.  She was inspired by her friend Hannah who made applesauce yogurt.  Aubrey's creation was Kool-Aid lemonade.  It turned out very tasty!  She liked it, but thought it tasted too much like lemonade, so she wanted to add less lemonade when she made it again.  We worked on a new formula and she made a new batch today, I guess we'll see if we like this one better.

Another sign of spring

I love ice cream and so do my kids.  Ryan likes it, but not as much as the rest of us.  Anyway, we are all excited that one of our favorite ice cream shops is now open for the summer and even better, we can ride our bikes there for a scrumptious treat!

Enjoying the spring

I love spring!  We went to the park on Wednesday with Melanie and her girls, what a gorgeous day.  Two hours of sunshine and fresh air, running free and getting dirty.  That spells fun for my kiddos.

Lauren loves to swing, she would have staying in the swing the whole time if I had let her

Aubrey and Paige swinging.  They had a few underdogs, but can pump on their own.

The kids wanted to wear their matching shirts so they could be triplets

Reconnecting

Monday I had the chance to catch up with an "old" friend.  I met Jodi my sophomore year of college in my first semester at UNI.  She and I had a class together and we found out we had a lot in common.  We were both engaged and our weddings were two weeks apart.  It was great to have a "couple" friend during college when most people weren't yet married and we had many fun times together.  I remember the first time we met Jimmy, Jodi's fiance, we were going rollerblading.  Ryan and I had been rollerblading before, but we weren't very good.  That needs to preface the story and you'll soon find out why.  Ryan put on his rollerblades and stood up out of the car.  Next thing I know it's like slow motion, his arms were flalling and he legs were spinning.  He landed on his rear end and all I could do was laugh!  That broke the ice for us and were had a great time together that day.

We spent lots of time together with Jimmy and Jodi and then life moved on, we moved away and we lost touch.  Thankfully we reconnected recently and it was great to see our kids playing and catch up on life. This was a good reminder to me that friendships are too important to drop and I need to be more diligent with staying connected.
