Family Time

Last weekend Kyle was here for a long weekend so we got to have lots of fun family time. Friday night we took family pictures which proved to be a little interesting. The pictures went well, but Lauren found a new "smile." I say that with quotes because it was more of a scrunched up face than a smile. I guess they all have to go through that stage, but it's no fun when you are trying to get the whole group to cooperate. Oh well, I'm sure with the wonderful technology our great photographers will be able to make it look like she had a beautiful smile every time.

Saturday afternoon was spent at the lake. Thankfully the summer weather that had been missing for a few weeks showed up again and we had a good time on the boat. When I was on the boat I was tubing with Lilly (each of us in our own tube). All of the sudden she was crying and said she was done. This is surprising because she loves boating and isn't usually done so soon. Once they pulled her back into the boat she said the fishy scared her. We thought that was strange, maybe she saw fish jumping. Then Scotty saw the fish that was in Lilly's tube. It was a tiny one, but I'm sure it didn't feel good to have it flipping around her in the tube. She even had scales everyone on her, probably because she was trying to get the fish out of her tube. We had fun tubing, but all I  could think about after that was fish jumping around me in the tube.

Later, when the second group of people went in the boat, they were having a fishing contest, trying to see who could catch the most fish in their tube. Apparently it was a fishy day!

We also played a fun new lawn game called Kubb (pronounced Koob). It may be our new family game.

After the lake we headed to our house to get ready for Aubrey's party. It was a little rushed, but worked out well. She wanted to have her party at our park and the weather was gorgeous. She had asked for earrings since she is getting her ears pierced next Friday and she did get quite a few pairs.

It's always so good to see Kyle and spend time with family. The kids get so excited to see him and talk about visiting him in Texas. They even recognize Texas and can find it on the map.
