This past year for Christmas we decided that instead of the adults getting presents we would save that money and take a mini-vacation as a large family. Thankfully Kyle even got to come home for it! We rented a house in Dubuque and stayed there for the long holiday weekend. We enjoyed the fireworks, the Mississippi River Museum and the trolley as well as just hanging out together as a family. One of the highlights for the kids at the house was catching frogs. We also enjoyed Kyle's creative story of the "great potato salad competition" that he won with his family's ancient recipe. Ryan also gave us lots of laughs when he almost jumped off the deck when the kids carried a dead mouse up to him!
Enjoying time with Uncle Kyle
Before the fireworks began there were skydivers who had "flames" attached to them so it looked like fire jumping from the sky
Lauren fell asleep during fireworks and pretended to stay asleep on the way back to the van so Micah carried her like a sack of potatoes. She just bumped along happily!
