Last week was the beginning of our school year. This year Aubrey is in 1st grade and Cameron is in Kindergarten. It's hard to believe that I have two kids in school, but it's oh so true! They've both been excited about starting school, so that made it easier. I was excited to start too, just not quite sure that I was ready. I decided it didn't matter how ready I felt, I was going to start anyway. I think the first week went well, considering my grandpa passed away on Tuesday. We even got in 4 out of 5 intended days of school, which isn't bad considering we had a funeral.
Here is Cameron in the outfit he picked out. It is funny to me that he wanted to pick out his clothes, because that's not usually a concern for him, but I let him and I thought he looked nice! I have discovered that he may or may not use a chair and is either gung-ho about school or adamantly opposed to doing it lest it break up any activity that he may be in the middle of at the present time.
Aubrey, also in the outfit of her choosing, though not as unusual for her to want to do this. She is flying along just as she was last year. She will keep me on my toes, which is a good thing. A lot of her work is actually 2nd grade level; we'll just keep going as long as she keeps up this pace. I love her love of learning, especially of reading. It warms my heart to see her reading chapter books, and enjoying them none the less!
My two students at our table, eager to learn. It is my prayer that I am the best teacher I can be for both of them, meanwhile being a good mother to them and to Lauren. I want to teach them academics, but also love for family and others and most importantly, love for God and His word. Some days it can seem overwhelming, this task that we've taken on, but I know I am not alone and "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
