My 30th Birthday

Two weeks ago I turned 30! I love birthdays and always have, so I had no hesitation about turning 30. Two weeks later, I still feel the same way. I guess I look at it like I have 3 kids and other responsibilities, so I might as well be 30. My awesome husband threw a party for me with our friends. The party was for Melanie and myself because we both turned 30 one week apart. Our husbands were great and we had a fun time at the party. I guess it's a sign of getting old when your idea of a party is a night with friends without kids! Oh well, it was fun.

Ryan and the kids got me an awesome present! They bought me a new camera! They went shopping the night before my birthday while I was gone. I didn't get home until after the kids were in bed. However, in the morning Ryan was delivering eggs when we woke up, so the first thing Cameron wanted to tell me was what they bought. I told him it was a surprise and not to tell, so he didn't. Later I was getting ready for teaching and I had the video camera out. Cameron looked across the room and innocently asked, "Is that your new camera Mommy?" It was so funny because he didn't even realize that he gave away the secret. Aubrey was very upset and started crying. She was so sad that he ruined the secret. I told her that it was okay because he's only 2 (an excuse I use for him whenever he does something childish that upsets her) and that I still didn't know what it looked like. She got to give me the camera when Ryan came home, so that also helped. I was gone again the evening of my birthday, so we went out as a family on Saturday. I chose Texas Road House (YUM!) because I had a coupon for a free appetizer. I love that place, and so do our kids because you get to eat as soon as you sit down. They weren't very hungry for their actual meal, but neither was I. That's the beauty of going there, we always bring home leftovers.

So, now I'm 30 and I have to wait 50 more weeks until my next birthday! The countdown has started!
