We got to go on a very long planned and anticipated vacation to Los Angeles to see our dear friends John and Karen and their family. It was the first time our kids had flown and the first time to be in California (except for Aubrey who had been there as a 1 year old). Thankfully the travel there was uneventful and smooth. We barely made our plane in Denver, but walking fast on the moving sidewalks proved an effective way to make the connection in time!
Friday was our first day in Southern California and it was a perfect day for the beach. The temperature was in the 80s and the sun was shining beautifully! We spent the afternoon at the Santa Monica beach. It was a great time for the kids to connect since they didn't know each other. Another first for our kids was seeing the ocean. I don't know if they grasped the hugeness of the ocean, but they definitely enjoyed the water, sun and sand.

Saturday we went to the California Science Center, the new home to the space shuttle Endeavour. It was the first weekend that it was open to the public, so our timing was perfect. It was so amazing to see an actual shuttle and to see part of history. It was crazy to think that that era of our country is over and our kids won't really ever know the excitement of watching a space shuttle take off.
We spent most of the day exploring the Science Center and we also got to watch a 3D I-max movie which we all enjoyed.
