One of the many benefits of homeschooling is traveling in the off season. We took advantage of that when we were in LA and went to Disneyland in the middle of the week. I have to say it was as close to a perfect day as you can have at Disney. We arrived right at opening time and parked in the ground level parking lot (apparently this usually fills up two hours before opening). There were basically no lines all day. We did wait in line to meet Rapunzel, but it was the one thing Aubrey had her heart set on, so it was worth it. We rode every ride that we wanted to and even rode some multiple times! One of the highlights was Star Tours. We had to convince Aubrey to go on it, but once she did, she enjoyed it. Sadly, Lauren is 39 inches and some rides you have to be 40 inches to go on. She was a little sad, especially about Splash Mountain, but she handled it well.
Riding the tram from the parking lot. It was a little chilly, but we didn't want to lug jackets around all day, so we suffered for the first hour or so until the sun came out in full force.
Enjoying the teacups (at least the kids are, Ryan wasn't a fan and I wasn't even thinking about going on them!)
I waited in line with the girls to meet the princesses. Cameron and Ryan explored other parts of the park while we did the meet and greet. Both girls enjoyed the princesses, but Lauren was totally enthralled with them. She really thought they were real and that Disneyland is their home! I loved the look of wonder on her face. It was truly a magical experience for her.
Still early in the day, you can see Lauren is chilly!
Just a fun picture of the beautiful bushes. The whole park was so clean and well groomed.
Taking a spin in Mickey's car
Inside Mickey's house
Sitting on Pluto's bed
Of course we had to get a picture of Ryan with Mickey's chickens!
They were a little unsure of Mickey, but they pleased Mom by taking their picture with him. He even kissed Lauren's finger!
With Rapunzel and her "real" hair. The girls are still adamant that it was NOT a wig!
Not the best picture with the castle, but it was sunny so we went with it. Notice the snow on the castle- they were getting ready to decorate for Christmas.
This is my favorite picture of the day. We were watching the parade and Lauren called out to Ariel, "Ariel, I took your picture!" Ariel looked at Lauren and blew her a kiss! This face says it all!
We had to stop at the Lego store after supper, so we took advantage of the photo ops.
Ryan and I are so thankful that we were able to take the kids to Disney. It was a wonderful, memory making day that was a blessing to be able to enjoy!
