Great Grandpa Hershberger

This weekend we got to spend time with Ryan's Grandpa Hershberger. He turned 90 and was here to celebrate it. He lives in Sarasota, Florida, and hasn't been in Iowa for years. Aubrey is the only one of our children who has met him, and that was only when she was Lauren's age. It was fun to see the kids interact with him and enjoy meeting another great grandparent. Sunday afternoon we had an open house for his birthday and that's when we took this generational picture.

Four generation: Great Grandpa, Grandma, Dad and kids

On Saturday evening we went to Ryan's uncle and aunt's farm. We ate supper, talked, and went for a hayride. Cameron was enthralled with the whole farm aspect of the evening. He has since talked about Nelson (Ryan's uncle) many times. He asks things like, "What animals does Nelson have?" "Why is Nelson a farmer?" "Why does Nelson have a tractor?" "What kind of truck does Nelson have?" It's so fun to see him in deep thought about all these things. The kids liked they hayride, I think it was a first for all of them.

The beautiful sunset during our hayride. I have to say I love being out in the country, it's so peaceful and relaxing.

Here we are getting ready for the hayride to begin

Another fun thing that evening was the wagon. Cameron tried to pull Aubrey and Ian, but the gravel proved to make it a difficult task.
